As of April 21, 2020, Microsoft renamed & consolidated many Office 365 license to Microsoft 365 enterprise. Microsoft 365 started in 2017 and targets the business enterprise customers that require higher-level of security & enterprise features that combine products such as Windows, Office Suite, SharePoint, Teams, InTune, Enterprise Mobility & Security, and more into a large selection of Microsoft 365 core licenses & Microsoft 365 add-on enterprise licenses.

Microsoft 365 Changes

Below are a few of the most popular Microsoft 365 license changes:

  • Office 365 Business Essentials is now Microsoft 365 Business Basic
  • Office 365 Business Premium is now Microsoft 365 Business Standard
  • Microsoft 365 Business is now Microsoft 365 Business Premium
  • Office 365 Business & Office 365 ProPlus have been consolidated & is now a single-license Microsoft 365 Apps

The products with the name changes are the business licenses. The office 365 that will have no change are as follows:

  • Enterprise: Office 365 E1, E3, & E5
  • Firstline Workers: Office 365 F1
  • Education: Office 365 A1, A3, & A5
  • Government: Office 365 G1, G3, & G5
